SMG Redstripes 3 Darlington CB 2

Second division leaders Billingham SMG Redstripes were hoping to increase their lead at the top as Whinney Banks were on cup duty. But visitors Darlington Cleveland Bridge had other ideas and took a 12th minute lead through Lee Hammond, four minutes later Duane Beagle made it 2-0. The home side pressed the visitors back but at the half-time break they still trailed 2-0. Ten minutes into the second half Alex Degiorgis gave the home side hope when he pulled it back to 2-1. Anthony Ptohopoulos then made it all square in the 70th minute, ten minutes later it looked like the Darlington side could hang on for a point or in fact grab a winner when the home side had Paul Brown sent off after two caution, but man of the match Degiorgis popped up with two minutes remaining to grab an unlikely looking winner.

Teesside Arriva 4 Darlington RA R 0

Hartlepool side Teesside Arriva and Darlington visitors Railway Athletic Reserves were very evenly matched for the opening half hour of the match, but then Neil Hay struck with a fine drive that gave Arriva a 35th minute lead. In the second half the home side pressed forward and grabbed a second again through Hay who scrambled home the ball in the 50th minute for his second of the match. The home side were now well on top and it came as no surprise when they added a third in the 78th minute when substitute Kevin Auton raced down the line and squared the ball to Paul Malcolmson who slotted the ball home to make it 3-0. With eight minutes remaining Arriva secured the points when Hay put Auton through with a fine ball and he blasted the ball past the keeper to make it a final score of 4-0.

Howden Aus 2 Darlington SRM 4

Teesside League Second Division side Darlington Simpson Rolling Mills progressed the second round of this competition, the reward a home match against Roddymoor on November 2. Michael Bland gave the Darlington side the lead with Paul Thorns scoring twice in the 20th and 35th minute to make it 3-0, but Howden struck back to make it 3-2 going into the half time break. In the second half the Darlington side withstood early pressure from Howden before just about making sure of the match on the hour when Gavin Harris scored to make it a final 4-2 score line.
