Tow Law Bass League: Tow Law New Market A moved six points clear at the top of the table when they visited Tow Law Cattle Mart and whitewashed the team made up entirely from the Boughey family.
The second placed Newhouse Club were stretched before edging through in the decider at home to Esh Stag's Head. Hamilton Row Black Horse moved five points behind Newhouse after a three points victory at Cornsay Royal Oak. The Stag's took both trebles points and then had singles wins from Malcolm Wightman and Mal Mickle. Newhouse levelled when they had singles wins from Brian Atklin, Bill Jones, Tom McQuillan and Mike Barron. The visitors went ahead by taking the first doubles but Newhouse squared the match by taking the second and then won the decider when Tom McQuillan and Bill Jones beat Colin Pearson and Peter Mickle.
The top marksman of the week was Kevin Brown of Hamilton Row Black Horse with a maximum and two 140's. The other leading individual scorers were L. Johnson 143 and I. Johnson 140 for Dan's Castle, W. Anderson two 140's for the Earl Derby, D. Mowbray and A. Spence 140 each for the Rose and Crown, B. Wilson 140 for the Moss Inn, M. Bell 140 for the Station and S. Boughey 140 for the Cattle Mart.

Willington League
Hunwick Joiners Arms jumped to the top of the table after they only dropped two points to the visiting Willington Brewer's Droop. The visitors only took one singles when Stuart Wayman was successful. The home singles winners were John Mason, Ian Richardson, Paul Reidy, Kenny Peers and Kevin Dunnett. The Joiners took the first doubles through Kenny Peers and Kevin Dunnett with the Brewer's taking their second point when Jason Martin and Jimmy Fleming took the second doubles, but Stuart Gill joined Ian Richardson to take the third doubles for the home side. The Joiners completed a good night by taking the team game.
This victory took Hunwick Joiners Arms three points clear at the top of the table with Willington Burn, the only unbeaten team, and Willington Club share second place two points ahead of Willington Black Horse Tavern.

Crook Ladies League
Gail Abbott of Crook Queen's Head A and Lucy Gardiner of the Queen's Head B team both added to the league's list of maximums when both saw three perfect darts go in last week. The Queen's A continue to dominate the table with only one defeat and a twenty-nine points lead at the top.
The other leading individual scorers were Sue Brunskill 140 for the Commercial, Linda Hope 138 for the Station, Rose Clement 136 for Jelly's B, Evelyn Thompson 134 for the Cricket Club, Lynn Marshall 131 for Willington Black Horse, Carol Watson 127 for Tow Law Black Horse, Dawn Harrison 123 for the Queen's A, Mary Jane Walton 121 for the Victoria, Jeannie Johnson 121 for the Green Tree and Babs Pickersgill 121 for the North Point.

Wear Valley Ladies League
Byers Green Club have taken over the vacant spot in the league and began their new experience with a trip to Crook Three Blue Bells. However they found their hosts on top form and only managed to pick up one point.
Despite losing by the odd point at home to Crook Golden Fleece, Crook Mill House lead the table by six points from Hunwick Quarry Burn, Crook Royal Sun and Crook Three Blue Bells, who all share the second place.
The leading individual scorers were Carol Haygarth 135 and 121 25 for the Golden Fleece and Freda Brown 124 for Oakenshaw. However the best piece of individualism was the 145 check-out from Margaret Lee of Sunnydene Lodge.

After just four matches of the new season the league suffered a blow with the resignation of Croft Social Club. Golden Fleece A moved clear at the top of the first division with a big win at White Swan. Former leaders, Willington Market slipped to fourth after losing to Belle Vue in the top match. Cricket Club top division two but their lead was cut after a home defeat against Green Tree.
