READING the Sunday papers could be a different proposition for Chris Turner and his Hartlepool United squad this weekend.

Pool play Bournemouth tomorrow afternoon in front of the Sky Sports cameras, which means Turner could be knocked off his perch at the top of the table this afternoon.

Since winning at Carlisle on the opening day of the season, Pool's longest stint off the top was a two-game run after losing to Macclesfield and drawing at Torquay.

And with rivals Torquay, Rushden and Rochdale all in action this afternoon, Turner could be sitting in relatively unfamiliar territory tonight.

"It will be strange on Sunday for us all,'' he said. "Picking up the papers and seeing how everyone else has done and working out the tables and what we have to do to be top.

"We probably won't be top of the table after Saturday's games, a lot of teams will have to lose or drop points for us to stay there.''

In winning at Shrewsbury last week Pool set an 11-game away-from-home unbeaten record and Turner added: "Things are going well for us away from home right now. Home teams are finding it difficult to break us down.

"It's important to be tight away from home and if we keep doing the right things 23 times this season then we will get to where we want to be.''

Pool's previous two live appearances on Sky have ended in defeat, at Halifax and later Hereford in the FA Cup - there's also an ITV Digital game with Nottingham Forest last year - and Turner said: "I only hope the players show the people watching at home and in the pubs that they are strong and committed, which serves us well away from home.

"So far our live games have been a bit disappointing, but I don't worry about that because I have every faith and confidence in this team.

"As far as I am concerned it's just another game for us and I won't worry about the cameras being there.

"I suppose it is something different for the lads - big time for the day if you want.

"In a way it does disrupt our week. When I was finishing off my playing career, Sunday games were just starting to come through and it can be strange because you are always used to playing Saturday and midweek.

"But it happens all the time in the Premiership. It disrupts both the week before and then the week after, but I don't think it will make a difference to our performance.''

Gordon Watson will link up with his teammates at the team hotel tonight.

He is recovering from a broken leg and Turner added: "Flash will be there with us.

"It's not far for him and he's coming along fine. We hope he will be back in the middle of November.''
