A SCHOOL celebrated the silver jubilee of its building with a party yesterday.
Belmont Infants School began in the early 1900s in the village's doctors' surgery, but moved to its present location on October 7, 1977.
To mark the anniversary, staff and pupils staged a party complete with a cake.
Headteacher Marguerite Grey said: "We brought out the old school log book this week as part of our work on the jubilee and it goes back to the early 1900s.
"We had a party and the children have been designing birthday cards.
"The PTA were very helpful and funded food for the party and prizes for the two best birthday cards for each class."
Mrs Grey said the celebrations would continue with the designing and making of a school banner and a reunion next term.
