RECYCLING and the environment is the theme for a family fun day being held in Spennymoor today.
Youngsters and their parents are invited to a fun- packed day of entertainment and activities hosted by Spennymoor Community Learning at its Festival Walk base in the town.
As well as displays about various sorts of recycling and competitions for the children, there will be a chance to learn how to create decorative mats from old clothes - proddy mats - and the opportunity to put together a collage representing the four seasons.
People seeking to develop their creative skills will also get the chance to make cushion covers, pencil cases and bags from old clothes.
Spennymoor Lifelong Learning co-ordinator Helen Jeffery said: "Family learning can take the form of parents learning to help their children with something they already know - for example, spelling or maths.
"But in this case it involves learning something new together."
