AN athlete will help a road show aimed at raising awareness of women's health issues get under way.
Allison Curbishley, a British 400m runner, launches the event, Look After Your Health - Because You're Worth It at the James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough, on Monday.
The event, for staff, visitors and patients, has been organised by the Health Promotion Network Group and coincides with several national campaigns including Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Staff will cover a variety of issues, including healthy eating, osteoporosis, breast awareness, sexual health, stopping smoking and the menopause, to name only a few.
There is also the opportunity for visitors to pamper themselves with "tasters" of reiki, Indian head massage, head, neck and shoulder massage and manicure.
Superintendent physiotherapist Joan Chapman, the trust's health promotion co-ordinator, said: "We held an extremely successful men's health road show in June and received some very positive feedback, prompting us to look at one for women. The event will cover a blanket of issues but also encompass the national campaign."
