THREE women are to cycle across the island of Cuba to raise money for a Teesside hospice - and they have borrowed a digital camcorder to record their marathon for posterity.
Sheila Bearcroft, charity shops manager with Teesside Hospice, marketing officer Joanne Denwood, and Julie Adams, who manages the Marske charity shop, decided to take up one of five international challenges thrown out by the UK organisation, Help the Hospices.
Of the five expeditions, each staged in a different country, the Cuban challenge appealed because it was the only cycling adventure and the trio are all keen cyclists. They are hoping to raise more than £7,500 through their efforts. Esmond Watson, owner of Cleveland Camera Mart, is lending the camcorder to the trio.
