BRAVE children are invited to explore around one of the National Trust's most treasured sites in search of creepy crawlies.
As the nights become darker and longer, bugs and eerie creatures start to emerge from the damp and gloomy corners of Fountains Abbey, near Ripon, North Yorkshire. Youngsters can take part in a free trail during the school holidays to spot some of these creepy crawlies.
The trail around the estate will be led by the resident witch, Wendy, who will need the help of the children to hunt for her black cat, Gretal, by using clues and solving riddles.
The adventure and activities are held daily from 10am until 4pm, from Saturday until Sunday, November 3.
The National Trust is also holding a Bats and Bugs day on Thursday, October 24, at the Swanley Grange activity base, to get children in the mood for Halloween. There will be mask-making, face-painting and bug-designing, as well as a host of spooky games and activities.
