PLANS for a fifth park and ride scheme in York have been submitted.
The proposed location for the new service will be at Monks Cross, where retail and employment sites already exist. A city-wide consultation showed that 98 per cent of the 3,800 respondents were in favour of the new scheme.
The council's application includes a car parking facility for 1,150 cars, a high quality terminus building, picnic area and space for visiting coaches and vans. The car park design is based on an amphitheatre-style layout.
An extended loop around the existing sites at Monks Cross is included in the plans, providing a frequent bus service for commuters and shoppers wishing to travel to the city centre.
