THE Rotary Club of Crook presents Arthur Kay and the AK Chorale with soloist Alison Snell and pianist George Hetherington in a Gershwin Night concert at Cockton Hill Methodist Church, Bishop Auckland, at 7.30pm, on Friday.

COUNCIL MEETING: The next meeting of Wear Valley District Council's Overview and Scrutiny Committee is on Thursday, at 2pm, in the Committee Room, Civic Centre, Crook.
DENE VALLEY: The next meeting of Dene Valley Parish Council is tonight. The council will be making a presentation to former clerk Julia Brown, at 6.30pm in the One Stop Shop, in Eldon. The presentation will be followed by the council meeting at 7.30pm, also in the One Stop Shop and not at Eldon Lane School as originally programmed.
TOWN COUNCIL: The next meeting of Spennymoor Town Council is tomorrow at 6.45pm in the Council Chamber, in Spennymoor Town Hall.
COMMITTEE MEETING: The next meeting of Wear Valley District Council's policy and strategic development committee is on Wednesday night, at 6pm, in the Council Chamber, Civic Centre, Crook.
SPORTING INVITE: The Darlington Dolphin Centre Badminton Singles League is encouraging over-16-year-olds to take up the sport. The league gets under way in November and will be divided into a premier division and a standard division. For an entry form, contact Colin Chidzey on (01325) 245574.
DRIVING SESSIONS: A safe driving course will start in Darlington on Wednesday, run by the local Institute of Advanced Motorists. The course comprises three theory sessions and practical on-the-road assessments. For more information, call Kathleen Hill on (01388) 812323.
GROUP PARTY: Darlington breastfeeding group celebrated its fifth anniversary on Saturday, with a party at the town's Memorial Hospital. About 20 mothers and their children attended the event. The group meets every Thursday at the hospital, from 10am to noon.
COLLEGE TALKS: Darlington MP Alan Milburn has discussed plans for further education in the town after visiting the College of Technology. He visited college principal, Sarah Farley, and toured the new Centre of Vocational Excellence in Media on Friday.
CANCER CASH: The Asda in Darlington, has raised £1,700 for Breast Cancer Care. Male members of staff and customers had legs waxed, as well as a fundraiser featuring raffles, tombolas and a quiz.
GIVE BLOOD: People can give blood at the Parish Hall, Newgate, Barnard Castle, on Friday, November 1, between 3pm and 7pm.
