GOING STRONG: Stanhope Folk Club, which meets on the first Sunday of each month at the Queen's Head pub, is going from strength to strength.
The club, which was formed 15 years ago, has a strong winter programme lined up, starting with a Roll Out The Barrel Night, featuring songs of peace and wartime, on November 3. On December 1, the club will stage a Stanhope Christmas Music Hall. The New Year gets under way with A Guid Scottish New Year night on January 5. HARVEST CONCERT: The Northern Sinfonia is presenting Harvest Strings, under conductor Baldur Bronnimann, at Stanhope Methodist Chapel on Thursday, October 24, at 7.30pm. Tickets are available at John Woodhall's shop in Front Street, Stanhope, or by contacting 0191- 443 4555.
SET FAIR: An autumn fair to raise funds for St Andrew's Church, Westgate, will be opened by singer Lesley Anne Dawes at the Methodist schoolroom on Saturday at 2.30pm.
