SHELL-SHOCKED Mark Robinson was last night still trying to come to terms with Hartlepool United's far-from Super Sunday.
Pool lost 2-1 to Bournemouth in front of the Sky Sports cameras, the winner coming in the closing stages as Chris Westwood's attempted clearance crashed off Tommy Widdrington into the net.
Chris Turner's side looked as if they were ready to hold on for a point after being put under huge pressure in the second period.
But after being handicapped following the dismissal of skipper Micky Barron in the first-half, they conceded the late decider.
Robinson, who had to switch from wing-back to left back as Pool adapted to the dismissal, was left stunned.
"I still feel sick thinking about it,'' he reflected. "To go that long without being behind then to lose the game like we did is hard to take.
"We knew it was going to be hard, but we had the lead and went into the break with something to hold on to.
"It was tough against the wind - it even got up in the second-half - but with 15 or 20 minutes to go we thought we were going to get there - then we finish up losing with a goal like that.
"Scoring the first goal gave them a big lift then the second one absolutely shattered us.''
He added: "Tommy (Widdrington) was obviously disappointed about it afterwards, but there was nothing he could do about it.
"Westy went to clear it and it just hit Tommy on the way out. It summed up our day.''
Robinson enjoyed arguably his best display of the season in the win at Shrewsbury in the previous game and revealed a word of advice from Turner proved the key.
"I was very pleased with how I played the week before,'' he said. "Before the game the gaffer said the onus was on me to go forward more. I really enjoyed it. Sometimes out wide you are up and down and by the time you race up then don't get the ball, you are shattered when it comes to getting back.
"But when I got the ball going forward I felt confident. I intercepted a couple of vital passes and had a hand in the goal.
"But it wasn't to be this time. Results went for us on Saturday and now we have to make sure we stay where we are."
