DEVELOPERS are being offered money to bring derelict buildings back to life.
Grants are to be made available to fund up to a quarter of the cost of renovation work - up to £44,000 and subject to availability.
The offer is being made to businesses in east Cleveland, including Saltburn, Loftus and Easington, as well as rural areas north of Guisborough, Dunsdale and Upleatham.
Jeff Blood, industrial development manager for Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said: "Everyone is aware of the problems derelict buildings can impose on an area and we see this grant scheme as a positive step, not only to combat this situation but to encourage new business activity and jobs.''
Work must be completed by the end of next March and applications are first come, first served.
