TRAVEL agents said holidaymakers in Bali with British companies were being given the option to return home early.
Anyone due to travel can amend or cancel travel plans free of charge, although the situation is being reviewed.
Kimberley Kay, a spokeswoman for Callers Pegasus, which has about 30 North-East branches, said: "We sell holidays to Bali with a number of tour operators.
"Both our organisation and these tour operators are following Foreign Office advice, which is not to travel to Bali, and they are also advising against all holiday and other non- essential travel to Indonesia.
"If anyone is due to travel they should contact their travel agent who can pass on the latest information from their tour operator or contact them on their behalf.
"Our thoughts, of course, go to the families of those affected by the incidents of Saturday night."
The company would be reviewing its position with tour operators over the next few days, she said.
A spokesman for the North-East Co-op, which has a number of travel agents across the region, said: "Anyone who has booked to travel with a tour operator will be offered their money back."
