AN initiative to breath new life into the back garden of a former bank has been awarded a grant worth up to £7,000.
The Reeth Community Orchard project celebrates its first anniversary later this month, marking a year which has seen significant progress.
The former branch of Barclays is due to reopen as a community resource centre later this year.
Cash awarded by the BTCV People's Places scheme will pay for landscaping in the walled garden outside, as well as for tools and training for volunteers.
Fundraising will continue and, on Friday, October 25, the Reeth Community Orchard Group will hold an Apple Day.
Pies and other produce made with fruit from the orchard will be on sale from 10.30am, with games adding an element of fun to the event.
