THE Darlington Lions group is appealing for new members to help form a youth branch.

As well as reforming the youth club, called Leos, the Lions wants to attract new volunteers to help with its work. There were once 42 members of the group but this has now fallen to about 27.

The Lions arrange a variety of fundraising events as well as carrying out practical work for elderly and vulnerable people.

The branch especially wants to welcome younger members who can help with more practical work, such as gardening and decorating for people in the community who need help.

John Clulee, of the Lions said: "You get a real sense of comradeship from being in the Lions and there is a good social scene."

There are both men and women in the group and members can give as much or as little time as they want.

A lack of interest in the Leos club meant it died out in Darlington, but the Lions are keen to restart it.

Leos are between 14 and 28. For more details call (01325) 460415
