Driver flown to hospital
A MAN was taken to hospital with head injuries after his car struck a tree at Great Stainton, near Sedgefield, yesterday. The accident happened just before midday, near Elstob Cottage. The car left the road and collided with the tree before bouncing back on to the carriageway. The Great North Air Ambulance was sent from Teesside Airport and arrived on the scene in minutes. School meeting: A public meeting is being held about plans to move Alderman Leach School, in Darlington, to the new West Park site in the town.
The meeting, organised by Cockerton and Branksome residents, is being held on Tuesday, at 8pm, in St Mary's Church, The Green, Cockerton. Anyone who cannot attend but would like to express their views can write to the CABLE office, 108 Whitby Way, Darlington or ring (01325) 354084.
Football reunion: Darlington Workingmen's Club is staging a reunion of its former footballers next Wednesday, at 7.30pm. The club celebrated its centenary last year and has recently opened a new heritage lounge. Anyone wanting further information should contact the club on (01325) 464341.

Artist Sue Abel is making Halloween masks at a Krafty Kids session, in Bishop Auckland Town Hall, on Saturday, from 10am until noon. It costs £2.
CHRISTMAS STYLE: Fourteen Bishop Auckland businesses are teaming up for a Christmas Fashion Show organised by the Town Centre Forum, in St John's RC School, Woodhouse Lane, on Wednesday, November 6. Doors open at 6.30pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £2 50 from Marks and Spencer, Newgate Street.
HARVEST FESTIVAL: The Methodist Chapel at Windmill, near Bishop Auckland, has two harvest festival services on Sunday at 2pm and 6pm. On Monday the Beltones sing in a concert at 7.15pm.
