THE people of Stockton are being invited to visit their town hall today.
Stockton Town Hall, which dominates the High Street, is throwing open its doors between 10am and 2pm as part of Local Democracy Week.
As well as the fine architecture, there will also be displays which depict the work of the council and, between 10am and 1pm, there will be an opportunity to meet and talk to Stockton's mayor, Councillor Jean O'Donnell.
Meanwhile, anyone wanting to find out how democracy works can sit in on a council meeting later today.
Residents are being invited to join councillors at the Education Centre in Junction Road, Norton, from 9.30am, where the housing and community care select committee will be meeting.
Anyone wanting more information on Local Democracy Week should contact Joanne Scanlon on (01642) 393939.
