Worthington Durham County CIU Team Knockout Final: Old Shildon completed a League and Cup double after they beat Durham City in the Team Knockout Cup Final played at Crowtrees, where Alan Greener of Sherburn officiated.
The Durham team received 121 points start but were never able to match the champions.
The first frame was very one-sided as Shildon's Charlie Blake had John Davies in trouble from the start with very good safety play. Blake put in a 38 break and left Davies snookered on the green, which was missed, allowing the Shildon player to win and cut the Durham lead to only six points.
Old Shildon took the lead after the second frame when captain, Jossie Aldworth won a very tight frame against Eric Wright by fifteen points. The tight third frame resulted in both Shildon's Billy Goggins and Gary Ward requesting a re-rack. Goggins then made a 27 break but Ward fought back to win by one point.
Andrew Aisbitt clinched the match for Old Shildon when he put in breaks of 37, 20 and 23 against Barry Stoddart, who made the most of the very few chances he was given. However Aisbitt's victory put Old Shildon into an 88 points lead.
The final frame was a formality between the two players sharing the name of Michael Pratt. The Durham player fought hard but never had a chance of closing the gap as Old Shildon won the frame by 22 points and the match by 403 points to 293.
CIU Team Plate Final
Wheatley Hill A added the Team Plate to their league runners-up awards after they beat Sacriston in the Final played at Coundon, where Frank Nicholson was the referee. The Third Division team received 55 points start but never managed to trouble their First Division opponents.
Alan Hall took the first frame for Wheatley Hill when he beat Stephen Bradley by forty points and was followed by Ronnie Peacock, who put the Hill ahead, after he beat Jeff Evans by 42 points.
Dennis Clish took the third frame by 47 points against Sacriston's Willy Nixon, with the Hill's Dean Bryden following up with a 39 points win over Dale Evans. This left Sacriston's Kevin Laing facing an impossible deficit of 115 points against John Worthington, who won to give Wheatley Hill a victory by 343 points against 207.
Crook League
Ithe top of the table clash in the First Division, Crook Olde Horse Shoe asserted their superiority when they beat the second placed, Crook Belle Vue for the loss of only one point to move 11 points clear. Crook Travellers Rest B, who, like the Olde Horse Shoe, are unbeaten, moved two points ahead of Crook Belle Vue.
The Horse Shoe's singles winners were Gerald Parkin, Gavin Witton, Stephen Liddle and Brian Johnson, whilst George Pakes became the first player to take a single point from the Shoe when he beat Darren Tinkler. The Shoe completed their win when Steven Craggs and Chris Raine took the doubles.
The top of the Second Division is much tighter with Crook Jelly's Bar A, Willington Market and Crook Golden Fleece B sharing the top, but with only a one point advantage over Howden Australian.
The Golden Fleece B moved up following their odd point victory at Crook Jelly's Bar B with singles wins from Brian Lonsdale, Colin Howe, Graham Young and Chris Baker. The home side had singles points from Chris Smith and John Finn, whilst Smith and Dean Hanson added the doubles.

Worthington Durham County CIU Doubles Final
Brian Graham and John Hall of Brandon won the Pairs Championship when they beat Dave Robson and Adrian Jones of Ferryhill in the final, played at Newton Aycliffe, where Ken Rider of Crook Belle Vue was the referee.
In the three frame aggregate score match, Robson put in an early 20 break but the Brandon pair worked hard on their safety and edged through to a 34 point lead by the end. The second frame featured breaks of 27 and 20 by Jones but the Brandon pair kept in it by steadily scoring a few points and running safe. However the Ferryhill pair won by six points to cut the deficit to 28 points.
The third frame was a thriller as Jones put in an early 47 break to put the Ferryhill pair ahead for the first time. Once again the experience in tight safety play from the Brandon pair steadily pulled them back level and then ahead. Their good fight back was completed as the Ferryhill pair needed a snooker on the last three balls, but Brandon went to a 187 to 161 victory when they potted the final pink.

Memorial Handicap
Kevin Sample of Brandon will meet Charlie Donaghy of Tow Law in the final after both came through their semi-finals with three frames to one victories.
John Maddox of Newhouse received two points start per frame when he faced Sample at Ferryhill with Mark Brown of Leeholme, the referee. The first frame was nip and tuck all the way until Maddox clinched it by taking the final pink.
The game was levelled when Sample put in two early 16 breaks and even though Maddox closed the gap with a 17 he conceded on the pink. The third frame followed a similar pattern to the first but it was Sample who took the final pink to go ahead. The final place was clinched for Sample when he took the fourth frame by steadily edging ahead throughout and ending with a 60-33 victory.
Karl Thompson of Leeholme received 17 points per frame start at Hunwick but never recovered from a very nervous beginning and went down in the first frame by 21 points. Thompson's luck did not improve in the second, here he eventually conceded on the brown, whilst trailing by 36 points.
The third frame saw Thompson get on top and it was left for Charlie Donaghy to clear the last five colours for victory but fell short when he went in-off the black. The tight fourth frame saw Thompson with an extended early lead but a steady fight back saw Donaghy take the final pink for a final place.
