Northallerton butcher David Moule has won first prize in a new competition for the butchers of the area.
Mr Moule's pork pies were judged the best in the competition held by the Northallerton and District Butchers' Association.
The competition, held at the Station Hotel, Northallerton, on Monday, was for the best added value product and was sponsored by the Darlington & Stockton Times.
The 15 entries were judged by Andrew Vaux, of Harrogate, a past supreme Yorkshire piemaker, and the editor of the D&S Times, Malcolm Warne, and his wife, Sylvia.
Johnson's Butchers of Thirsk was second and W Lowther of Great Ayton, third.
A new trophy for the competition will be presented to Mr Moule at the association's trade dinner on Monday at the Leeming Bar Motel.
