PIG producers have been urged to attend a regional conference to find out for themselves what opportunities there are to improve their businesses.

Both the Road to Recovery, produced by the British Pig Executive, and the Acid Test from the National Pig Association are working to deliver better returns for producers.

The conference will feature leading pig producers, along with BPEX manager Mick Sloyan; Meat and Livestock Commission marketing manager for pig meat Chris Lukehurst; MLC veterinary scientist Derek Armstrong and MLC pig technical manager Dr Pinder Gill.

It takes place at The Quality Hotel, Leeds-Selby Fork, alongside the A1, on Thursday, October 31, at 5.30, followed by a regional NPA meeting.

Mr Sloyan said: "Both the Road to Recovery and the Acid Test are being implemented as catalysts to bring direct help to British pig producers.

"This is a chance for them to find out not only exactly what is being done and what they can do to help themselves, but also to have a say in how the pig levy is spent in future."
