COUNCILLORS are being asked to approve security measures at a number of bungalows in Hartlepool.
Members of Hartlepool Borough Council's south neighbourhood consultative forum are being asked to approve the scheme for 32 bungalows in Glencairn Grove, Glamis Walk and Wynyard Walk.
The houses are let to the elderly and residents say they feel vulnerable, especially in winter.
It is proposed that lighting be installed at the front and back of each house. Similar schemes throughout the town have proved successful.
The building services division of the council has estimated the cost of porch lighting at the front of each property and dusk to dawn lighting at the back will cost about £3,837.
Funding has been approved from the community safety budget for half the cost and councillors are being asked to approve the rest of the cost when they meet on today
