Bowman Anderson Accountants Spennymoor Sunday League: SALVINS snatched their first win of the season over Binchester Social Club to haul themselves off the bottom of the First Division.
A dramatic last-minute winner from Kevin Gillham bagged three precious points for the home side.
Daniel Patterson had already given Salvins the lead, but Gavin Dunnett equalised for Binchester with just two minutes left. Gillham snatched the late, late goal to get Salvins off the mark and up into ninth spot.
A delighted Secretary Norman Dale said: "We're obviously over the moon to get our first win! Binchester will feel a little hard done by because they enjoyed probably 80 per cent of the game and hit the woodwork twice in the first half! But I thought we defended very well and maybe deserved something from the game on that alone. But the game was played in the right spirit and I was pleased with that as well." Dale added that he was pleased with the performances of both John Lockey - who came out of retirement to put in a man-of-the-match display - and centre-back David Nut.
Elsewhere in the top flight, Newton Aycliffe beat Beehive 10-3. Freescoring striker Dave Muir grabbed a hat-trick, along with sub Jason Wing. Paul Stevens (2), Mark Weatheridge and Jason Cowley notched the others, with Kevin Strange, David Baldwin and Mark Pattinson scoring for Beehive.
Spennymoor Thorns beat Tudhoe United 4-0 with goals by Steven Richardson (2), Anthony Stewart and Stuart Dingle.
Old Shildon scraped a 4-3 win at Brandon, while Lakeside were held to a 2-2 draw by Broompark Loves. Loves had taken a 2-0 lead through goals by striker Damian Brennan, but Dave Welsh and Steve Woodward pulled it back for Lakeside in the second half.
In Division Two, top-of-the-table Postchaise lost their second game of the season, going down 2-0 at Green Tree, while unbeaten Brawns Den thrashed bottom-of-the-table Boot & Shoe 8-1.
Craig Burner and Darren Rutter scored for the Tree to give them victory over the current leaders, while Brawns Den maintained their pressure at the top with a comfortable victory.
Peter Boucher (3), Iain Ambrosini (2), Jason Murray, Kenny Readman and Dale Phillips all scored for the Den, with Matthew Robinson getting Shoe's only goal.
Meanwhile, Victoria beat Horndale 6-2 thanks to goals by Martin Longthorne (2), Jason Greenland, Steve Birkin, Chris Jayne and Kyley Wright. Wayne Pratt grabbed both Horndale goals.
Elsewhere, Shildon Athletic bagged the points after beating Two Blues 4-3. Kevin Kavanagh, Darren Dodds, Adam Potter and Ryan Laffey all scored for Shildon, with Lee Nixon (2) and Mark Smith scoring for Blues.

Darlington picked up their first point of the season when they drew 2-2 with Durham Fire Brigade. Phil Muir scored for Darlington to give them a first half lead. This was wiped out through an unfortunate own goal. Dave Ibbotson then gave the Fire team the lead, but Kevin Wilson levelled things up in the final minute to earn his side their first point.
Derwentside continue to make progress up the table, following their 2-1 win at Sedgefield. Derek Sirett gave Derwentside the lead, with a shot from 20-yards which slipped past the keeper. Billy Crampsie powered home a header from 18-yards to level things up. In the second half Derwentside had the better of play and took all the points when Kevin Maddick smashed the ball home after good work by Andy Liddell.
Durham HQ are another team starting to make progress. They scored a second win when they won 2-1 at Frankland. the first half was goalless but Frankland did miss a penalty and hit the bar. Tony Insall made them regret those misses, when he scored from close range to give HQ the lead. Frankland then were further hampered by having a man sent off for a second bookable offence. This seemed to spur them on and scored an equaliser when regular keeper Stuart Lambert playing up front managed to find the net, Frankland thought they had done enough to hang on for a point, but Install had other ideas and popped up in the final minute to finish from close range again.
One goal was enough to take all three points in the Easington Langbaurgh fixture. Keith James scored after half an hour for Easington.
Newcastle and Stockton was another close match with newcastle winning by the odd goal in five. Dave Oakes gave Newcastle a first half lead. Noel Young then scored twice for Stockton, the first from the penalty spot and the second a top corner screamer. Newcastle repeated last week's come back with two late goals to take the points. Ian Milbourne scored the equaliser on his debut and a second goal by Oakes proved to be the winner.
