THE Chester-le-Street Waldridge Park U8s had a good win against Willington in difficult conditions.
Intricate passing between Mark Bell and MoM Andrew Lowes allowed Lowes to cross from the by-line. Matthew Addison narrowly beat the onrushing Jake Lower to the ball to stab home the opener. The second half saw Lowes seal the win with a strike from inside the box.
The day's second U8s game saw Waldridge make hard work of an East Boldon Tigers side who Waldridge beat 6-0 last time out.
Matthew Addison's first-half strike was carried over the goal-line by East Boldon's goalkeeper for the only goal of the game. Good work by MoM Aaron Tones and timely defending by Lewis Adey helped earn three points.
The U10s had a disappointing day with a draw and a defeat. In the first game they drew 0-0 with Holly Park Rangers. MoM: Nicholas Edwards.
This was the second time in three weeks Park have drawn 0-0 with teams below them in the league. They must learn to be more clinical in front of goal.
In the second game they lost 2-0 to Birtley Town. Park played three at the back in the first half to try and keep a clean sheet and nearly held out. With only four minutes left they failed to clear the ball after a good save by the goalkeeper.
In the second half Park took the game to Birtley and had a couple of chances. Town's second goal was conceded after a kick out by the goalkeeper went straight to a Birtley player. MoM: Goalkeeper Dean Saunders.
The U11s came up against strong opposition at Byers Green, and the experience of the opposition showed. Park performed courageously before being overcome by a mixture of tiredness and inexperience. The final score, Waldridge Park 0 Byers Green 6, did not reflect the closeness of the game. MoM: Carver.
This was possibly the U12s best display of the season in another top-of-the-table game at Birtley Town in second place. Waldridge stood firm in the opening minutes and then countered with striker Michael Smith showing his pace with a terrific first-half hat-trick.
In the second half Waldridge played outstanding passing football and there were further goals by MoM Johnny Days, Devon Phillips and Mark Greener, 4, making the total nine.
Birtley scored two consolation goals and had a penalty saved by Park's James Beresford. This result leaves the U12s as clear league leaders.
The U13s were at home to Hilda Park and conceded two goals. Waldridge found their feet with Lee Adams reducing the arrears but Hilda Park made it 3-1 at the break. Hilda Park scored two more goals, and Waldridge had goals by James Mansell and Stephen Wood to lose 5-3. MoM: Stephen Fisher.
The U14s had their second round League Cup game at Peterlee Spartans hastily rearranged to the Murton Colliery Welfare ground under floodlights on Friday night and turned in a sparkling performance.
MoM Dawes was in his new role alongside midfielders Harris, Mitchenson and Marriott. The fine finishing of Bruce and Gough, 2, ensured their progress to third round.
The U15s were in action at home against a strong South Tyneside team. Waldridge took the lead when captain Ayton blasted home a penalty.
The 65th minute saw a sudden break by Waldridge being rewarded with an excellent 35 yard strike from Coffer. The closing minutes of the game saw South Tyneside pull a goal back.
The U16s were at Eaglescliffe for a County Cup game. Waldridge quickly established a lead with goals by Miles and Lattimer.
Waldridge then had a period of defending to do and the opposition scored their only goal. Waldridge then scored through Quinn and Foster with half-time score 4-1. There were further strikes by Miles and Lloyd for a 6-1 win. MoM: Quinn. The U17s lost 4-1 at home to Houghton.
Another good team display by the Chester-le-Street Riverside U8s against Washington Tigers saw them win 2-0 with goals by Danny Ryan and Ross Holland. In their second game the U8s had a comfortable 6-0 win over Wearmouth Girls thanks to a Ross Hughes hat-trick and goals by Ross Hollans, 2, and Ross Elliott.
The U9s beat Belford House 2-1. The scorers were Lunn and Smith. They then went down 1-0 to Redby Whites in their second game. The Riverside U10s drew 0-0 with Easington Eagles, but beat Barnes Boys 4-0 with goals by Reach, 3, and Christopher Martin.
The U11s were at Lambton Lion Bees in the league cup. Riverside proved too strong for Lambton and won 12-0 winners. Scorers: Mark Graham, 3, Arran Wearmouth, 2, Simon Towers, 2, Jake Clarke, 2, Josh Findley, Shaun Ryder and Steward Ord.
The U12s stay second with a comfortable 7-0 victory over Shildon.
In the U13s premier league, Riverside met Redby Blues in a 'must win' game for both teams. Despite being down 3-1 Redby fought back and equalised. Riverside scorers: Simon Godfrey, 2, David Martin.
Chester Athletic U8 Tigers won 5-0 and 2-0 with goals by Jamie Hall, 2, MoM Adrian Bailes, 2, and Seven Jamfrey. In the second game the goals were by Callum West and Hall. MoM: Dylan Childs.
The U9 Lions drew 0-0 and won 3-0 with goals by MoM Gary Smith Jackson and Mark Bailes, 2. The U10 Pumas won 5-0 and 5-1 with goals by MoM Oliver Forsyth, 4, Michael Ross, 2, Jack Spencer, Ross Dawson, 2, and Paul Adams.
The U10 Falcons won 4-0 and 1-0. Scorers: MoM Callum Garden, Adam Henderson, 2, Greg Skeoch, MoM Alex Graham. The U11s won 5-0 in the cup. Scorers: MoM Lee McTaggart, 2, Jack Ramshaw, Jonathan Sharp, Joe Miller.
The U12 Eagles kept up there unbeaten run with a great 9-1 win. Scorers: Callum Grieves, 3, MoM Liam Melvin, 3, Richard Ward, Hunt, 2.
