Billingham enjoyed two full days of swimming at Middlesbrough competing in the first leg of the Autumn 2002 Graded Championship Series.
Billingham were jubilant in bringing home medals: 6 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze.
Glen Martin, 10, winning gold in magnificent style by half a length in both the 200m breast and 200m free. Harriet Goodman, 10, swam superbly in the 100 IM and collected a medal coming 6th place and 12th in the 50m.
There were three competitors in the 11 year old category. Rebecca Blane finished 28th in the 50m free, 27th in the 200m free, 34th in the 50 fly and 20th in the 200 I.M.
Charlotte Brown finished 19th in the 200m free, 24th in the 50m free and 27th in the 100m breast.
Bradley Dixon swam brilliantly in the 100m back to achieve a bronze medal.
Six 12 year olds competed. Joanne Longster excelled herself picking up gold in the 100m back, just missing out on a medal coming 7th in the 50m fly and coming 10th in the 50m free.
Kerry Hassall swimming well came 9th in the 100m back, 10th in the 200m back and 14th in the 50m free.
Lisa Sheehan achieved 14th place in the 200m free, 15th in the 50m free and 24th in the 100m breast.
Pippa Shepherd gained 15th place in the 100m back, 21st in the 200 IM, 22nd in the 200m free, 25th in the 100m breaststroke, 27th in the 50m fly and 28th in the 50m free.
Jessica Trewin coming 22nd in the 200m back, 25th in the 100m back and 30th in the 200m free, 50m free and 100m breast.
Rachael Blane swam well finishing in 37th place in the 50m free.
13 year old Liam Sutheran was superb picking up two medals. Gold in the 50m fly, silver in the 200m free and 5th in the 200 I.M.
In the 14 years and over category 6 swimmers competed.
Emma Wilson was magnificent picking up gold in the 50m free, silver in the 200m I.M., bronze in the 200m back, medals for 4th place in the 200m free, 5th in the 100m back and 12th in the 50m fly.
Jayne Usher was also brilliant in the 200m free picking up a gold medal and in her 50m fly finishing 14th.
Emma Shepherd also swam well coming 11th in the 200 I.M., 18th in the 100m back, 22nd in the 50m free, 24th in the 200m free and 25th in the 50m fly.
Lorraine Riddle came 14th in the 200m back, 24th in the 50m free, 29th in the 200m free and 20th in the 100m back.
Shane Hassall did well coming 12th in both the 100m breast and 200m back, 15th in the 50m fly and 20th in the 200m I.M.
Matthew Sheehan swam excellently just missing out on a medal in 7th place for his 100m back, 10th in the 50m free, 13th in the 200m back and 20th in the 200m free
