THERE are a number of events taking place at the National Trust-owned Ormesby Hall before the end of the season, on Sunday, November 3.
An exhibition by photographer Joe Cornish shows well-known North-East landmarks and is open Tuesday to Thursday, and on Saturday, from 2pm to 5pm. Entry costs £3.70 (£1.80 for children). RESURFACING WORKS: Redcar lane will be closed between Lord Street and the level crossing from 7.30am on Monday for one week to allow essential resurfacing works, weather permitting. A signed diversion route will be in operation via Borough Road, Lilac Grove, the A1085 Coast Road and Lord Street.
CLASSIC STRINGS: The Haydn Lute Trio will play music by Haydn, Hagen and Handel, in the 17th Century Chapel of Sir William Turner's Almshouses, at Kirkleatham, near Redcar, next Saturday - the first time a lute trio has performed in the 325-year-old chapel.
TRAVEL OFFER: The Northumbria Tourist Board is delivering a one-day tourism customer care course at the Park Hotel, Redcar, on Wednesday, November 13, while Cleveland Fire Brigade is giving a half-day course on emergency first aid at the Grangetown Training Centre, on November 27.
BOOK DAY: The North Children's Book Festival will hold a book day at Eston Sports Academy on Saturday, November 9, between 10am and 4pm. Children will have the chance to meet authors and illustrators.
CRAFT FAIR: A Christmas craft fair is being held at Ian Ramsey School, Greens Lane, Stockton, on Saturday, November 2, from 10am until 4pm. Crafts will include glasswork, ceramics, knitwear, Oriental kites and peg dolls.
TEMPERANCE MEETING: Middlesbrough District Temperance Society holds its annual meeting at 6pm on Monday, November 4, at Marton Community Centre, Cypress Road.
Support group: A new support group open to people with colostomies, ileostomies and urostomies, as well as people who have undergone surgery following bowel cancer, will meet on Monday, November 4, at 6pm, in the male surgery ward at the University Hospital of Hartlepool. HOUSE FIRE: Cleveland Police are investigating the cause of a blaze which wrecked a house in Beech Grove, Loftus, east Cleveland. The living room was destroyed and half the remainder of the house damaged by heat and smoke. A 21-year-old woman was treated at Middlesbrough General Hospital for cuts and bruises to her face.
FEATHER FUN: Children will have the chance to make a feather picture or model to take home at a craft session at the Flatts Lane Country Park, Normanby on Thursday, from 1pm to 3pm. Entry fee is £1. For details call (01642) 459629 .
