Spennymoor will give new defender David Goodchild his debut against top-of-the-table Alfreton in the UniBond League First Division this afternoon.

Moors boss Tony Lee, fresh from his side's fightback against Droylsden in the Cup in midweek, signed former Whitby player Goodchild from Gateshead, along with former Billingham Town midfielder Neal Bishop from the same club.

"This match will be a yardstick for us," said Lee.

"We mustn't be complacent because of our win the other night, but it will take a decent side to beat us at home.

"There is a great spirit at the club and that shone through against Droylsden."

Striker Tony Woodhouse, who was ineligible in midweek, and another striker, Ben Ryan, are both added to the squad.

Bishop Auckland are hoping for their second win inside three days at home to Stocksbridge following their morale-boosting win over Kendal in midweek.

Bishops boss Brian Honour said: "The win did everybody's confidence the world of good and I couldn't have asked for more from the players.

"We're looking now to win at least ten of our remaining games, and games like this one are really important."

Honour probably won't field any more new signings, so he is expected to choose an unchanged side.

Defenders John King and Andy Hill are the latest players to be released.

In the Premier Division, Whitby Town, who are in their highest league placing, will have a full squad for their trip to Altrincham.
