A SPOOKY Halloween storytelling session will take place on Thursday, October 31.

SKIP FIRE: Five fire crews battled to bring a wood fire under control at a Darlington industrial estate. The fire started at 2am on Saturday at Dees Skip Hire, on Albert Hill. About 100 tons of timber were destroyed in the blaze which was extinguished at 10.30am by firefighters.

CHRISTMAS SALE: Volunteers at the Darlington Branch of Save the Children will be selling Christmas cards at the Darlington Building Society on Tubwell Row, Darlington, from next Monday, until Saturday November 2. All proceeds from the cards will go to Save the Children. The sale will be on from 10am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 10am until noon on Saturday.

BAZAAR SALE: A bazaar is being held at Sadberge village hall on Saturday. Admission is free and the doors open at 2pm.

AUTUMN FAIR: The Salvation Army, in Northgate, Darlington, is holding an Autumn fair on Saturday, November 9 between 10am and 2pm.

SCHOOL HARVEST: Children from Howden-le-Wear Primary School are joining in a Harvest Festival on Thursday from 2pm. Proceeds go to the Seeds for Africa charity.

GUIDED WALK: A "tombstone trail" around Darlington's West Cemetery, takes place on Saturday, at 2pm. Meet at West Cemetery Gates, Carmel Road North. Tickets cost £2 per person or £1 for concessions. No dogs are allowed.

CASH RAISED: A wine, cheese and pate evening held in Redworth raised £200 for Heighington Methodist Church and £28 for the Northumbria Historic Churches Trust.
