PETER McGOVERN will discover if he has a head for heights the day before starring in The Fiddler on the Roof, in Darlington Operatic Society's latest production at the town's Civic Theatre.
Peter, a 16-year-old from Langholm Crescent, Darlington, auditioned successfully to be the mysterious musical sprite who plays the fiddle 20ft above the stage.
The Carmel School A-level student will find out just what he's taken on when the show's technical rehearsal takes place tomorrow. Fiddler opens on Wednesday for a ten-day run.
For a dress rehearsal, Peter agreed to try out his roof-balancing skills at The Northern Echo's three-storey Priestgate building in Darlington.
His ambition is to reach the top in musical theatre and, thanks to this show, the youngster already has a high point to his career.
