A FATHER and son team have taken over a popular village pub.
First-time landlords Michael and Kevin Melton have been pulling pints at The Bay Horse in Hurworth for just over a week.
Kevin, 22, is delighted to be running his own pub.
He said: "I have worked in pubs since I was 18 and I love it. I have always wanted to run my own pub and although it is hard work and long hours we are both taking it in our stride."
The pair took over the pub after Mike and Margaret Henderson retired after eight years at The Bay Horse.
They plan to move abroad and are considering working as relief bar managers.
