WORKS of art created by students in Darlington were the centre of attention at the annual mayor's ball on Friday.
The huge indoor artists' garden was created by students from Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College.
Youngsters were asked to view Darlington through the eyes of famous artists for the display which was on show at the ball in the Dolphin Centre.
Mayor of Darlington Doris Jones was delighted with the artwork and the success of the ball.
She said: "The evening was very successful and we raised a lot of money for charity.
"The works of art were fantastic, so much so that one guest asked if the paintings were for sale.
"I had to explain that they weren't mine to sell but everyone commented on how wonderful they were."
The money raised from the evening will go to the mayor's two nominated charities Darlington Alzheimer's Society and HAE Cock's Memorial Homes, but the final figure has not yet been calculated.
Councillor Jones said: "I am sure we will have raised a lot of money.
"Everything about the evening was wonderful - the music, the setting and the food. I want to thank everyone involved in making it such a success."
