CHRIS Turner last night revealed he is ready to unleash his Hartlepool United fledglings on the LDV Vans Trophy tonight.
The Pool chief is convinced that the side he puts out at Prenton Park will more than hold their own against Tranmere Rovers in the first round. It will be the second time Turner's men have faced second Division Tranmere in just over a month after September's 2-1 defeat in the Worthington Cup.
"We know what to expect from them, but I don't know what team they will be fielding," said Turner, whose table-topping side won 4-3 at home to Wrexham on Saturday.
"We will be putting out an experienced side but we will be resting a lot of the players who took on Wrexham.
"People like Gordon Simms, James Sharp, Paul Arnison and Kevin Henderson will be playing and they will be in there with a few of the young lads."
Young guns Jim Provett, Matty Robson, Colin McKenzie and Tony Sweeney will be given match action.
"The young lads are going to get some experience and that will be good for them," said Turner, who has also named first team regulars Anthony Williams, Michael Barron and Ritchie Humphreys in his squad. "It will be a similar team to that which played Barnsley off the park in pre-season and hopefully they can do it again.
"There may be some inexperienced youngsters in the team but the team is more than capable of getting a result."
Meanwhile, Turner admitted he is ready to blood pacy front-man Jermaine Easter back into the set-up. Easter, a former Welsh youth international and Wolves forward, has not played since being booed during the 2-0 reverse against Macclesfield in August.
But Turner said: "I've taken Easter out of the firing line recently after that match.
"But I'm looking to get him involved more again."
