THE latest high-tech business venture by County Durham teacher turned entrepreneur, Roy Stanley, has been launched in partnership with Newcastle United.

Children using NUFC's groundbreaking Learning Centre, equipped with the latest computer equipment, will be the first to have JoeKnowsIt as an online learning aid.

Every PC at the Learning Centre is subscribed to JoeKnowsIt, allowing students access to the latest video modules to guide them through any query when working on the computer.

The partnership with Newcastle was launched to coincide with the JoeKnowsIt website going live and a massive marketing campaign.

It is being targeted at educational establishments, businesses and personal PC users as a cost effective video training tool.

Mr Stanley is behind a group of successful Durham companies under the Comeleon banner.

Mr Stanley, who earlier this year picked up the County Durham Business Show's Lifetime of Achievement Award, has ploughed £250,000 into the business.

In the first year, he expects to create at least 50 jobs and achieve sales in excess of £1m.

He is joined in the venture by the original developer of the concept, Terry Munley, and Internet entrepreneur Steven Bell, previously managing director of Studentmobiles before selling it to Carphone Warehouse.

JoeKnowsIt is currently available on 31 computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Adobe Photoshop.

The JoeKnowsIt technology underwent a research and development trial with help of students at St Thomas More School in Gateshead.

They who were present at the launch to see their comments put into action.

Mr Stanley said: "We see a massive market for this. It is a simple idea which has a great potential for business and education."

Phil McBride, head of Newcastle United's Learning Centre, said: "This donation of JoeKnowsIt to our systems will prove a massive help in the education of hundreds of local children who use our facilities.

"The easy to use modules can be accessed quickly and easily by a student, which saves them time waiting for a tutor to help with their technical inquiry."
