AN award-winning restaurant chain is preparing to open its latest branch.
The Oldfields group, which has restaurants in Barnard Castle and Darlington, will launch its latest at Claypath, Durham City, on December 2.
It will be a split-level building featuring contemporary, relaxed lounge seating for 40 downstairs, and a stylish restaurant with seating for 55 upstairs.
The company's ambitious expansion plans will see it open a total of 12 restaurants over the next five years, with sites in Tyneside, Harrogate, York and West Yorkshire being considered.
Managing director Bill Oldfield said: "I am delighted with the way the new restaurant is coming along.
"Oldfields has wanted to operate in Durham for some time. It is such a vibrant city, and we are looking forward to being part of it."
Oldfields is the only restaurant group in the British Isles to have been awarded the Les Routiers Gold Award for outstanding quality and service in the first three years of opening.
Known for its blend of modern European cuisine, modern surroundings and relaxed atmosphere, it will build on this theme at its new restaurants.
