A YOUNG athlete who set a precedent at this year's Great North Run has raised £1,000 for a North-East hospital.
Adam Harker, from Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, was the only runner to take part in both the junior and adult events.
And his efforts have provided a boost to the cardiac unit at Middlesbrough's South Cleveland Hospital.
The Woodham Technology College student's father, Paul, also a keen runner, suffered a heart attack at 42 - prompting his son to raise money for other patients.
Donations came from the Royal Navy Clubs of Newton Aycliffe and Stockton, as well as Newton Aycliffe Athletics Club and other groups.
