COUNCIL chiefs are urging residents to help shape a village's future by joining a committee.
A committee to make decisions on Dawdon's regeneration, which will take forward a blueprint for the village, is being set up.
It follows initial consultations with residents, which resulted in a list of options and suggestions for development.
It is hoped that each street in the renewal area will elect two representatives to work on the committee, and meetings have been set up to enable people to get involved.
Otherwise, those interested in joining the steering group can send their name, address and telephone number to Tony Davison at the District of Easington, Council Offices, Seaside Lane, Easington, Peterlee, SR8 3TN.
Dawdon councillor Frank Shaw said: "This is an exciting opportunity for local people to get involved in the future of their village.
"I hope they will take this chance to play their part in shaping Dawdon."
There will be a meeting today, in the lounge of Dawdon Welfare Hall from 6pm to 6.30pm for residents of Embleton Street, Stavordale Street West, and Margaret Street; from 6.45pm to 7.15pm for Chaplin Street, Maglona Street, Shrewsberry Street, and Queen Alexandra Street; and from 7.30pm until 8pm for Wynard Street.
The venue will host a meeting tomorrow from 6pm to 6.30pm for Stavordale Street, 6.45pm to 7.15pm for Illchester Street and Strangeways Street; and 7.30pm to 8pm for Fox Street and Cottages Road
