A holiday retreat is nearing completion after 16 years of delay.
The holiday hideaway is being created in what was a folly overlooking Hackfall Woods, Grewelthorpe, near Ripon, built by William Aislabie in 1767.
Late next year, when a £444,000 restoration project is completed at Mowbray Point, it will be available for holidays.
The Landmark Trust, which is restoring the neglected stone building, anticipates no problems in letting the home on a regular basis.
Long-distance views include Roseberry Topping 45 miles away, North York Moors, York Minster, and the White Horse of Kilburn.
