A man who walked from Germany to County Durham to publicise his charity is now embarking on the next step of his campaign.
In August Ian Young and his black labrador Sally arrived in Chester-le-Street, after setting off in June from Germany, walking hundreds of miles across Belgium, France and England. He had been working in Germany as a dog trainer and embarked on the mammoth feat to draw attention to the International Service Dog Fund charity.
Now back in England, Ian is looking for temporary accommodation where he can live with and train more dogs, until he can realise his dream of setting up a designated centre in Chester-le-Street.
His mother, Ruth Young said he needs a property where he can train two dogs at a time.
She said: "The dogs have to learn how to live with somebody. If they're in kennels at night they're not getting the right experience, because a disabled person might need the dog throughout the night."
Ian will train the dogs to meet whatever needs their future owner has, from alerting people to ringing phones, to taking them to their medication at a certain time.
If anyone can help, contact Ruth or Ian Young on 0191-3886156.
