Autumn arts exhibition Chester-le-Street Arts Society will be holding its autumn exhibition at Chester-le-Street Library from Saturday until November 9.

The group meets at Chester-le-Street Community Centre on Newcastle Bank, every Wednesday, from 7pm to 9pm and welcomes new members.

TRUST DONATION: Two classes of children from St Godric's School, Thornley, will take part in a visit to Beamish Museum thanks to a £120 donation from the Beamish Development Trust. One class will visit Home Farm and make Christmas decorations, while the other will visit the Victorian classroom.

OPEN DAY: Families are invited to explore the 40-acre conifer plantation at Langley Moor on Saturday, from 10am to 4pm. The open day includes guided walks, demonstrations of woodland crafts, refreshments, displays by local groups and children's activities.

BABY MASSAGE: Baby massage workshops will be taking place at Chester-le-Street Community Centre on Saturday between 10am and 11.15am, from November 9. The four-week course costs £26. For more details, or to enrol, call 0191-3720798.

MONEY RAISED: A fundraising day for Macmillan nurses, at the Consett Library, raised £358. The nine raffle prizes were all claimed. Organisers have thanked contributors.

Musical lunch: Flautist Fiona MacLaughlin and pianist Maria Dzenkauskaite will perform at St Cuthbert's Church, North Road, Durham, next Wednesday, at 1pm. Admission is £4.

Autumn fair: An autumn fair will be held by Newton Hall Senior Citizens' Club on Saturday, at All Saints Church, Carr House Drive, Newton Hall, Durham, at 2pm. Stalls will include bric-a-brac, cakes and books.

Healing session: The national Federation of Spiritual Healers is holding a healing session on Saturday, between 1.30pm and 4pm, in the Shakespeare Hall, North Road, Durham. Sessions are held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month.

Rocking pub: Rock band Rooster, who play music by Free, Bryan Adams and Santana, will be performing at the O'Neill's Irish pub tomorrow from about 9pm. Admission is free.

Colliery brass: Murton Colliery Brass Band will give a concert on Friday at 7.30pm in the Glebe Centre, Murton. The soloist will be Joe Cook, principal tuba player of the Black Dyke Mills Band. Tickets cost £4 and £3 and are available from the centre on 0191-520 8650.
