A Darlington Building Society employee is helping a charity team which is restoring a church's garden.
St Matthew and St Luke's Church, in Brinkburn Road, Darlington, is being given a make-over by a team of young people, most of whom are unemployed,as part of The Prince's Trust personal development programme.
As an employed volunteer on the programme, Leanne Richardson, who works for Darlington Building Society, is playing a leading role.
Leanne, who is a customer service advisor in the building society's Tubwell Row branch, is the first of three volunteers from the company to take part in the Prince's Trust's programme.
In addition to releasing Leanne from her work duties, Darlington Building Society is also paying a fee to the Prince's Trust to cover the training costs for Leanne's time there.
The Prince's Trust is encouraging more North-East employers to use its personal development programme for staff training, which can be tailored to meet the needs of individuals and their employers
