The of a North-East man killed in the Bali bomb blast are to join a memorial service for the victims in London tomorrow.

Ian Findley, 55, from West Pelton, near Chester-le-Street, County Durham died during the explosion at the Sari Club on October 12.

Ian had been on holiday in Bali with business partner Ian Stafford, who survived the blast, and a group of other friends when he was killed in the terrorist bombing.

But Ian Stafford, from Grange Villa returned to Newcastle Airport alone, bringing with him the news the Findley family had dreaded.

Mr Stafford said that Mr Findley had shielded him from the full force of the blast as they walked into the club- and that he had later identified his friend in the overflowing morgue at the hospital.

Today Mr Findley's relatives are in London to attend a memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral organised for victims and their families by the Australian High Commission.

Ian's 26-year-old daughter Amanda and her husband Martin will be attending along with his other sisters Susan Moralee and Deborah Maxwell and his nephew Kevin Rutherford.

Accompanying them will be Det Con Caroline Lyall, one of two liaison officers appointed by Durham police to assist the family.

Earlier this week one of his three sisters, Carolyn Rutherford and his brother Brian flew to the holiday island to see for themselves what was being done by the authorities and to find out when Ian's body might be returned home.

Clive Walton was another North-East victim of the blast. The son of Sunderland City Councillors Lilian and Jack Walton, he was an ex-patriot lived in Hong Kong.

Mr Walton, originally from Sunderland, had been in Bali touring with a rugby club when he was caught in the explosion.

There is still no indication when the bodies of the Britons who died in the terrorist bombing might be returned.
