THE daughter of a golf club professional has been named as the latest Orange Darlington Young Sportswinner.
Polam Hall School pupil Eleanor Givens, 13, from Darlington, won the award for her achievements since she took up the sport three years ago.
She is a member of Blackwell Grange Golf Club and is trained by her father, Ralph, who is the professional at Stressholme Golf Club, in Darlington.
Eleanor plays for her club as well as for Durham County Girls Team and Durham County Ladies B Team.
She has been selected by England Ladies' Golf Association 13-and-under squad to benefit from specialist training.
Her ultimate ambition is to play for her country.
Mr Givens has also given lessons to Ainsley Inglis, who came third in this month's Young Sportswinner competition.
Young rugby player Abby Blackburn came second.
The team award went to Mowden Park Rugby Club's girls' under-16 team.
The coach award was presented to Tracey Pennock, for American flag football.
