A GUISBOROUGH man has lost seven stones thanks to exercise on prescription.
Weighing in at more than 21st and with a 50in, waist, Neil Collinson visited his doctor after suffering chest pains.
He was referred to a consultant who told Mr Collinson he was unable to operate and warned him he needed to make some dietary and lifestyle changes to avoid further health problems.
Mr Collinson followed the advice he was given and attended information and education sessions with a community dietician.
"He was then referred to an exercise on prescription course at X4 Health and Fitness, at Clairville Stadium, Middlesbrough.
The combined effect of eating healthy food and an increase in regular activity had a profound effect on his weight which dropped by seven stones.
Mr Collinson said: "I feel so much better now.
"Previously, a 300-yard walk made my joints ache and I would have to stop because I was out of breath.
"Now I enjoy five-mile walks with my dog.
"I plan to maintain what I have learned and would not hesitate to recommend exercise on prescription to anyone else in the same position I was before my wake-up call."
