OCTOBER 25, 1415, is a date well-known to most students of history - and Shakespeare.
It was the day when a small force, commanded by Henry V, routed a much larger French army at Agincourt, and in doing so proved the power of the sturdy English longbow.
This weekend, would-be warriors will be able to try their hand at medieval weaponry, when the clock goes back 587 years.
For Barley Hall, the restored medieval hall in the centre of York, is staging its own Agincourt Day, on Saturday.
Visitors will have the chance to meet some modern day longbowmen and to find out more about warfare in the Middle Ages.
There will be armour, weapons and medieval costumes to try - plus the chance for visitors to test their own skills as soldiers of the past.
And in the true spirit of European reconciliation, admission will be free to any French people who happen to be passing by.
