A WOODLAND wildflower gala will take place at Linthorpe Cemetery, in Middlesbrough, on Saturday.
The town's Wildspace Project is inviting people to go along to the cemetery, from 10am to 1pm, pick up a trowel and help plant violets, foxgloves and primroses.
These and many more native plants have been grown from locally collected seeds by the Wildflower Ark.
Carefully propogated in poly tunnels at Nature's World, Middlesbrough, they are now ready for transplanting to Linthorpe Cemetery.
Wildspace officer Sue Antrobus said: "These wild flowers will add spring colour to Linthorpe Cemetery, which is soon to become a local nature reserve.
"As natural habitats for woodland wildflowers become increasingly scarce, places like cemeteries are becoming increasingly important as conservation areas.
"Once established, these wild plants will act as a source of seeds for other wildlife sites."
Throughout the morning there will be a wildflower detective trail and flower badges for children.
