RESIDENTS are being asked their views on road safety plans.
Durham County Council has drawn up a traffic management and street enhancement scheme for the centre of Shotley Bridge.
To enable local people to view and comment on the scheme, to be part funded by Derwentside District Council, an exhibition is running for three weeks in the Made in Paint shop window.
The exhibition closes on November 4, and people will have until November 18 to submit their comments.
Posters will also be distributed to residents.
Chris Tunstall, the county council's director of environment and technical services, said: "The focus of the scheme is the junction of Front Street, Snow's Green Road and Church Bank, which is a very difficult junction for both traffic and pedestrians.
"One of the key elements of the proposal is a mini roundabout at the junction, as well as traffic signs, anti-skid surfacing, trying to reduce the width of the road, and making the narrow road to Snods Edge one way.
"Funding for the traffic management work has been identified in the Local Transport Plan, and we are also proposing to improve the street furniture, lighting and paving."
As well as at the exhibition, comment sheets are available at the Post Office, Front Street, Shotley Bridge, or from County Hall on (0191) 383 4104.
