VENTURE scouts showed community spirit to redecorate a church interior.
Five members of the Carver Venture Unit of the 2nd Chester-le-Street Scout stook time out of their own fundraising for a new headquarters to help to paint the interior of Perkinsville Methodist Chapel.
The Scout group currently meets at Carver House, South Burns, but is looking for new premises because the present HQ must make way for a supermarket development.
The group is awaiting the outcome of a Lottery application for funding.
A unit spokeswoman said the Venture Scouts had been happy to help the church.
"They all enjoyed the experience and were pleased to help with such a worthwhile cause," she said.
Those taking part in the painting were Mark Atkinson, Chris Knowles, Andrew Atkinson, Dennis Haswell and Eamonn Williams, who were supervised by George Burton.
