PLANS to regenerate a vandal-hit area of York could get under way next week.
Councillors are meeting on Friday to discuss the sale of land in the Chapelfields area for affordable housing and community facilities.
Members of York Council's executive are expected to agree the sale of the Sanderson House site at Bramham Road to Tees Valley Housing Group.
Following consultation with the Chapelfields Regeneration Forum and residents, Tees Valley plans to demolish the buildings and put 12 houses on the site.
The £156,000 that the council stands to raise from the Sanderson House sale would be pumped back into community facilities - with major work on the community centre among the options.
Councillor Ruth Potter, the council's executive member for housing, said: "We are all committed to regenerating this area and getting rid of this eyesore, but it has been important to consult residents and find out what they want."
