The cost of renovation work at a castle in the region has risen to £9,000.
Town councillors in Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire, were told that English Heritage had agreed to provide up to £4,500 to make Neville Castle safe.
North Yorkshire County Council has provided £2,400 with the town council funding the balance. The castle is alongside a public right of way and some masonry has already fallen.
