Teenagers will represent the region at a national summit on urban regeneration.
The event, in Birmingham, on Thursday and Friday, has been organised by the Government as a follow-up to the Urban White Paper and will bring together representatives from around the country to discuss urban regeneration initiatives.
Phillip Potts, 16, of Heaton, Newcastle, will attend the event as a member of Newcastle Youth Council and the UK Youth Parliament.
He will be joined by Chris Badoo, also 16, from Newcastle's City Centre Youth Group and the City Youth Action Group.
